AC Control Systems Diagram Analysis

Overview

The Control Systems Diagram (CSD) Study has the capability of determining pickup and dropout voltages, losses, and current flows at any time instance as well as overall marginal and critical alerts.

With ETAP AC CSD users can create presentations and simulate control operations such as a Motor Operated Valve (MOV), Motor Starting, and Circuit Breaker Control Circuits. AC CSD is a flexible solution allowing to customize circuit diagrams with Controlling Devices and Controlled Switches. Using Sequence of operations event viewer and reports, AC CSD is a great tool to design and validate control systems.

With AC CSD in ETAP, users can run Voltage Drop and Sequence-of-operations study modes. Voltage Drop calculations can be auto-run as soon as any of the operating devices such as buttons, switches, or contacts’ state is flipped; or when the Study is manually run from a steady state. Device pick-up and drop-out voltages are used to determine the sequence of triggering events and their relevant alerts. The detailed sequence of operation events and voltage drop results are reported.

Reports

The Control Systems Diagram (CSD) has the capability of determining pickup and dropout voltages, real and reactive power losses, and current flows at any time instance as well as overall marginal and critical alerts. Engineers can create their own custom library to include their devices into their CSD simulations. These Libraries can include Solenoids, Contacts, and Relays. These devices can be rated for different operating frequencies, and shared across projects from the same library.
